We are saving lives and protecting the environment by addressing the following three areas of pressing needs.
Education in Togo is suffering and in need of improvement. Enrollment rates remain low, and dropout rates remain high due to poverty and other socio-economic factors. The government has made efforts to improve the education system through teacher training and school construction. Still, more sustained and coordinated efforts are needed to ensure all Togolese children can access quality education. We are seeking funders and donors to be our education partners to help expand access to education, especially among rural and disadvantaged communities, to create a more equal and equitable learning environment. This effort will give the youth of Togo the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and create a more prosperous future. These efforts will empower women and girls and make a real difference in the lives of Togolese children.
In Togo, health and nutrition are dire, with high mortality rates among women and children. The World Health Organization estimates maternal mortality at 320 per 100,000 live births and under-five mortality at 72 per 1,000 live births. Additionally, malnutrition is a widely spread epidemic, with 38% of children under five being stunted and 10% suffering from wasting. The government has taken steps to improve health and nutrition, such as vaccination programs, prenatal care, and maternal and child health services; however, more needs to be done. With sustained, coordinated efforts and improved access to quality healthcare and nutritious food, Togo can make great strides in providing a better health and nutrition landscape for its people. To achieve this, funders and donors need to step in and support the endeavors of the Togolese government.
Investing in protecting the environment in Togo, Africa, is essential to ensure a healthy, prosperous future for its people. By investing in sustainable practices, Togo can preserve its vital resources of clean water, fertile soil, and a stable climate and create jobs in sectors such as renewable energy and eco-tourism. This will provide economic development, help reduce poverty, and improve food security by preserving fertile land for agriculture. Donors and funders should recognize the importance of these long-term investments, as they will help protect Togo's natural resources and ensure a healthy environment for future generations.
